Kauai Food Bank, Inc
Kauai Food Bank, Inc., a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization, was formally established in the State of Hawaii in late December of 1994.
The circumstances of the organization’s birth were nothing less than catastrophic. On September 11, 1992, Hurricane Iniki struck Kauai, the northernmost island in the 50th State, and left thousands of people homeless and subsequently unemployed. In the aftermath, community heroes and heroines first formed the grassroots Kauai Food Bank amidst incredible environmental and economic chaos and emotional upheaval.
Our Programs
Fighting hunger on Kauai through food programs for children, seniors, and families in need.
Keiki Cafe Program
Supports child academic enrichment in after school programs by providing healthy snacks like fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola bars to combat hunger between lunch and dinner.
Backpack Program
Providing food-filled backpacks every Friday containing ingredients for 5-7 easy-to-prepare meals and snacks on weekends & school holidays when school-provided meals are unavailable. Prevents hunger and food insecurity.
Kupuna Program
Through the KIFB Kupuna Delivery Program, we utilize third party non-profit agencies to recieve, pack, and deliver foods to elder communities around Kauai.
Emergency Program
Available on an emergency basis for people who need food when no pantries are open, requiring advance scheduling for pick-up.
How We work
We collect, store, and distribute food through our warehouse and partner agencies to reach hungry families across Kauai.
